Linksys RE6300, a plug-in Wi-Fi range extender, has two non detachable external antennas which makes it capable of boosting the range of Wi-Fi up to 6,500 square feet. It is compatible with the routers of every brand and from every service provider. The Dual-Band (2.4 and 5 GHz) lets you experience the internet speed of up to 300 Mbps on 2.4GHz channel and that of up to 433 Mbps on 5GHz channel.
It also offers an option to use it as an Access Point Mode (wired range extender). For the optimal placement and functioning, Linksys has included the feature of Spot Finder Technology to its product. Linksys RE6300 comes with one Gigabit Ethernet Port, to which one device, such as, gaming console, Smart TV could be connected. Through this port, one can get data transfer speeds ten times faster than a fast Ethernet port.
Settingup a Linksys RE6300 is quite an easy task with the browser based method. It does not require any setup CD or software to get installed. Before getting started with the setup process, jot down the connection name of your Wi-Fi and Password of the active network. Once you have the required details, go ahead with the steps given below:
Step 1: Plug your extender into a power source and hang on until the orange light on its surface begins to blink.
Step 2: Connect your range extender to a client device, which can either be a cell phone or a computer/laptop.
Step 3: Open a web browser on the client device and enter ‘http: //extender.linksys.com’ in the address bar. IP Address can be used as well.
NOTE: ‘192.168.1.1’ is the default IP Address of an un-configured Linksys extender. It, however, changes when the extender gets connected to a server.
Step 4: Click Start Setup button and the option As a wireless range extender must have been selected by default. Now click Next.
Step 5: Now select your wireless connection and enter the Password when it asks. Once you have entered the password, click Next.
Step 6: You are now on the Extended Wireless Network configuration page. If you wish to change the setting, go ahead, or leave them as they are, and click Next.
Step7: Adjust the location of your extender as directed on your screen, and when done, hit Next.
Step 8: To keep it secure, create an admin password and click Save.
There you go, the extender is all set to eliminate the dead network zones from your place.
